What is cosmetic restoration?

It is the set of conservative techniques that repair a damaged tooth without resorting to a full crown. Direct restoration uses composite resins applied in layers, with different colours and translucencies to reproduce enamel and dentine, and is shaped and finished by the doctor in a single session. Indirect restoration instead involves a ceramic inlay, onlay or veneer designed on the computer and bonded to the tooth, indicated when the area to rebuild is large.

When is it indicated?

Cosmetic restoration is indicated for fractured edges of the front teeth, for teeth worn by grinding or erosion, for dark or leaking fillings to be replaced, for small shape corrections or to close gaps between teeth in a minimally invasive way. It is the right choice when the tooth keeps enough healthy structure; if the damage is very extensive or the tooth is root treated, the doctor may recommend a zirconia crown. How is the treatment carried out in our Tirana clinics?

Direct composite restoration is completed in a single session of one or two hours, while ceramic inlays and veneers take a few days to make in the laboratory. In both cases the treatment fits comfortably into a single stay in Tirana and is often combined with professional cleaning or whitening to even out the colour.
