Invisalign

Invisalign is the clear aligner system that straightens teeth without metal brackets, using a series of almost invisible removable trays changed every one or two weeks according to a digital plan approved by the doctor. In our Tirana clinics the treatment is designed by European trained orthodontists who speak Italian and English, and it is particularly suitable for people living abroad because most checkups take place remotely.

What is Invisalign?

The aligners are trays in transparent plastic made to measure from a three dimensional scan of the teeth. Each tray is slightly different from the previous one and moves the teeth by a fraction of a millimetre; worn for at least twenty two hours a day, it is replaced after one or two weeks by the next one. Small tooth coloured composite attachments, bonded to some teeth, help the trays apply the necessary forces. The patient removes the aligners to eat and brush.

When is it indicated?

Invisalign is indicated for mild to moderate crowding and gaps, for relapse after old braces, for small rotations and for adults and teenagers who want a discreet solution compatible with social and working life. Not every case is suitable: severe malocclusions or impacted teeth often require fixed braces. During the free consultation, based on photos and a scan, the orthodontist checks whether your case can be treated with aligners and how many will be needed.

How is the treatment carried out in our Tirana clinics?

On your arrival at the clinic the intraoral scan is taken, from which the software produces a three dimensional simulation of the tooth movement and of the final result, which you can see and approve together with the doctor. The aligners are manufactured and delivered in series; in the same session the doctor bonds the attachments and explains how to wear, clean and change them. You receive all instructions in your language and a direct channel to the doctor on WhatsApp.

How long does it take and how many trips are needed?

The treatment lasts on average six to eighteen months depending on complexity. Checkups are mostly remote: you send photos or have a short video call every six to eight weeks and the doctor checks that the teeth are following the plan. Only a few clinic visits are needed, normally two or three short stays, for the initial delivery, any refinements and the removal of the attachments. Trays can be shipped directly to your home when a new series is needed.

What are the advantages?

Practically invisible aesthetics, greater comfort than fixed braces, no food restrictions, normal daily hygiene and the possibility of seeing the final result in advance. For people living far away, remote management keeps travel to a minimum. Every Invisalign treatment in our clinics comes with a written treatment plan and a warranty on the planned result.

What happens at the end?

Once the final position is reached, the attachments are removed and the doctor delivers the retention trays, to be worn at night to keep the result stable. Maintenance checkups can be done by video call, and the doctor who followed you remains available for any question even after the treatment is over.
