All-on-6

All-on-6 is the rehabilitation of a whole dental arch with a fixed prosthesis supported by six implants. It follows the same principle as the All-on-4 technique but spreads the chewing load over a larger number of implants, offering more stability and a wider safety margin when bone quality and quantity allow it. In our Tirana clinics it is often the surgeon's choice for the upper arch, where the bone is softer, and for patients who chew particularly hard.

What is an All-on-6 rehabilitation?

Six titanium implants are placed along the arch, in positions planned on the computer to use the best bone and avoid delicate anatomical structures. A complete fixed prosthesis is screwed onto them, first a provisional and then the final one in zirconia. With six support points the prosthesis can extend further back, up to the molars, and forces are spread more evenly, reducing stress on individual implants and on the bone.

When is it indicated?

All-on-6 is indicated for people who have lost all the teeth in an arch or whose remaining teeth cannot be saved, when there is enough bone for six implants or when the doctor considers a wider safety margin advisable compared with four implants. It is often preferred for the upper arch, for younger patients who will use the prosthesis for many decades, for people with bruxism and for those who want a longer prosthesis with full chewing at the back. The final decision is made by the surgeon on the cone beam CT scan, during the consultation.

How is the treatment carried out in our Tirana clinics?

How long does it take and how many trips are needed?

As with All-on-4, two stays in Tirana four to six months apart are needed. During the first, of about a week, the implants are placed and the provisional delivered. During the second, of five to seven days, digital impressions are taken, aesthetic and functional trial fittings are carried out and the final prosthesis is delivered. Between the two trips the doctor follows you with video call checkups and on WhatsApp.

What are the advantages compared with All-on-4?

Greater stability, a more even load distribution, the possibility of a longer prosthesis closer to a complete set of teeth and a safety reserve should one implant ever need attention in the future. In exchange, the surgery is slightly longer and requires more bone. The surgeon compares the pros and cons of the two solutions with you and recommends the one best suited to your mouth.

What to expect after treatment?

The final zirconia prosthesis restores full chewing, a natural smile and correct support for the facial tissues.
