All-on-4

All-on-4 is the implant technique that allows a whole dental arch, upper or lower, to be rehabilitated with a fixed prosthesis supported by only four implants. It is the solution chosen every year by thousands of patients who have lost all their teeth or who live with an unstable denture, and in our Tirana clinics it is performed by European trained implant surgeons who speak Italian and English, with guided surgery and an own laboratory.

What is the All-on-4 technique?

The name literally means all the teeth on four implants. Two implants are placed straight in the front area, where bone is almost always plentiful, and two are tilted in the back area to make the best use of the available bone and avoid the maxillary sinus or the alveolar nerve. This tilt provides a stable base even in patients who have lost bone volume, reducing the need for grafts. A fixed prosthesis of twelve teeth is screwed onto the four implants; the patient cannot remove it and it behaves like natural teeth.

When is it indicated?

All-on-4 is indicated in cases of total or near total tooth loss in an arch, of remaining teeth compromised by gum disease or decay that cannot be saved, and for people who have worn a removable denture for years that moves, hurts or prevents them from eating with peace of mind. The surgeon decides case by case, on the cone beam CT scan, whether four implants are enough or whether, for reasons of bone or chewing forces, the All-on-6 variant is preferable.

How is the treatment carried out in our Tirana clinics?

After the free consultation with the doctor, by video call or at the clinic, and after the CT scan taken on your arrival, the procedure is planned on the computer and performed with a surgical guide. In the same session any remaining teeth are extracted and the four implants are placed, under local anaesthesia with sedation if you wish. Within twenty four to seventy two hours the laboratory delivers a fixed provisional prosthesis, screwed onto the implants, with which you go home and start smiling and chewing soft food again. All explanations are given in Italian or English.

How long does it take and how many trips are needed?

The journey includes two stays in Tirana. The first lasts about a week and includes the examination, the surgery, the delivery of the provisional and the first checkups. After four to six months of healing, during which the doctor follows you remotely, you return for a second stay of five to seven days: digital impressions are taken, aesthetic trial fittings are carried out and the final zirconia prosthesis is delivered, strong and with a translucency very close to natural enamel.

What are the advantages?

How is it maintained over time?

The prosthesis is cleaned every day with a toothbrush, interdental brushes and a water flosser, exactly like natural teeth, and is checked periodically by the doctor. With good hygiene and regular checkups an All-on-4 rehabilitation can last many years, giving the patient back the freedom to eat, speak and smile without worry.
